This book has been set for all those students planning to sit for the Physics Ordinary level examination issued by the Matriculation and Secondary Education Certificate Examinations Board (MATSEC). Students arc strongly advised to work out all questions set. The answers should serve students in their successful journey of understanding Physics and to prepare them for future examinations in ordinary level Physics. All the questions in this book are those provided in the MATSEC past papers of 2006 and 2007. I tried to remain faithful to the format of the papers but there are instances where for continuation purposes I apply minor changes to certain diagrams and sequence of diagrams and answers. While I abide to the Physics 0-level syllabus requirements that may be viewed at http://home.um.edu.mt/matsee/ all the solutions have been completely set and worked by myself. I stress that all the solutions are my direct interpretation and do not in any way reflect MATSEC policies, philosophy and marking schemes. While I have made every effort to present an error free copy I accept the full responsibility for any mistakes that may inadvertently arise. I dedicate this book to all the Physics teachers and consider myself lucky to know quite a few. I am thankful in anticipation to all those who form part of the focal academic community of science and physics education and who choose to give feedback. I invite them to contact me on my email at patrick.camilleri@um.edu.mt I thank the Chairman of the MATSEC board, Professor Frank Ventura, for the necessary permission required to reproduce the MATSEC papers and Mr. Sebastian Agius, of Agius and Agius Ltd, for his expert help. I also convey my appreciation to Mr. Martin P Farrell, the Head of Physics at the Junior College and Mrs. Lorraine Buttigieg, currently teaching Physics at San Gorg Preca College, Hamrun Boys Junior Lyceum, for their well placed advice. Finally I express my deepest gratitude to my wife Sharon for her endless patience and support during the preparation of this book.en_GB
