Abstract: | This dissertation project explores a number of different facets in the Maltese nightlife and electronic dance music industry. The purpose of it in relation to this dissertation is to explore form through design and finishing techniques that may be introduced in a publication in order to spark the interest of a potential reader. The niche target market consists of individuals aged 17 to 27 years old, who are interested in or form part of the Maltese nightlife culture. A focus group was conducted as field research at the end of the process in order to discuss the final copy of the publication. The final publication consists of a 32-page print magazine with a protective sleeve, stickers and comes in a tote bag. The combination of the magazine and sleeve is to mimic the form of a vinyl record in order to appeal to the authenticity of the current music scene which has given a revival to this traditional form of music consumption. The magazine features visual and editorial content in the form of seven articles, conducted as interviews with industry professionals and supported by visually appealing photography. |
