Abstract: Epilepsy is a common neurological condition with an estimated incidence of about 1% of the total population. Studies have shown that many traditional antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) alter immunoglobulin (Ig) levels in patients on this therapy. The objective of this study was to carry out a study on the Ig depressing effect of traditional AEDs and newer AEDs, in groups of patients, group A (n= 16) that are receiving newer AEDs as add-on therapy to the traditional AEDs, Group B of patients (n= 12) receiving traditional AEDs as monotherapy (Group B) and a control group of patients not on any therapy.
