Abstract: | Welcome to the first issue of Nursing in Critical Care for 2021. This issue includes an international collection of empirical and commentary papers from the United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, The Netherlands, Turkey, and Thailand about various aspects of adult and paediatric critical care nursing. The papers are mainly focussed on clinical practice and examine topics ranging from tracheostomy management and mechanical ventilation to the prevention of pressure injuries and catheter-related bloodstream infection; and from high-flow nasal cannula therapy to the impact of nursing patients in different positions on their respiratory and haemodynamic status. Other topical issues that are explored include sustainability in critical care to the response to the coronavirus 2019 disease (COVID-19) pandemic. [Excerpt] |
