Abstract: Advances in reproductive technology have made it technically possible for the early human embryo to be an experimental object. This has enhanced the contemporary thorny debate on the moral status of human embryo. Beyond doubt, some ethical consensus on this fundamental issue is essential for policy formation aimed at regulating the future of biotechnological research, such as IVF/ET treatment, embryo experimentation, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, therapeutic and reproductive cloningm stem cell research, and freezing of spare embryoes.
