Abstract: The aim of the thesis is to assess the direct and the indirect impacts of the EU Air Transport Policy on both internal and external cohesion and how increasingly competitive markets have influenced the factors and processes promoting and inhibiting regulatory convergence. The current debate on coherence conveys that ideally policies should complement and definitely not work against each other. Due to limited and outdated literature available on the subject, various annual airline reports and estimates have been of tremendous importance in providing different views and therefore a wider perspective. The final conclusion has been drawn out of several press releases and a deep analysis of both the existing acquis and the upcoming European Union legislation
