Abstract: Transport is an essential feature for the functioning of an economy. This is especially true in today's globalised world where trade is characterized by fast communications and logistics. Thus trade goes hand in hand with transport. Road haulage is one of the leading forms of transport around the world offering cheap and fast transport solutions. Being a large continent, Europe depends heavily on this type of transport to transfer all kinds of goods from one place to the other. With the EU being an economic and political bloc of 27 countries on this continent, major importance is given to this sector to ensure efficient trade and increased economic development which is at the basis of the same European project.
