Abstract: Computer Graphics is the creation of images on a computer screen by specifically created programs that render scenes and images. Rendering is the process with which a 3D modeled scene is converted to an image onto the display. Global Illumination is a general nomenclature for a set of algorithms that render 3D scenes realistically. Final gathering is a technique that estimates global illumination for a particular point by sampling a number of directions in the hemisphere over it or by extrapolating the value from nearby points. It is computationally expensive and hence used only in offiine rendering. Our aim is to examine current Global Illumination techniques, specifically the calculation of diffuse interrefiections and propose a final gathering solution for rasterisation, maintaining a high level of visual fidelity and interactivity.
