Abstract: | With the rise of Web 2.0, new technologies are taking over our traditional browsing experience. One of these technologies is RSS or Really Simple Syndication. Although RSS emerged some years ago its interest is increasing. In fact sites other than CNN.com and BBC.com, are using this technology! Typically if the user was interested about information produced by a number of websites, s/he had to access each time and check the web pages concerned. RSS is an XML file used by webmasters to easily show websites' new update. Several different updates may be listed in a central place, aggregated. Various RSS aggregators have been developed increasingly including new features. Normally users have to manually add RSS websites in order to start receiving updates. Our aim for this thesis is extended normal RSS aggregation to include various desirable features such as filtration, organization, recommendation and automation in finding new RSS. Every user will have a personalised filter which will display an item list tailored according to user's interest. Organization and recommendation will further increase the reader functionality and help the user in choosing items to be read. |
