Abstract: How much Deadpool is too much Deadpool? [SF]This should be good.[ESF] Never enough, it seems . . . and this is where excess comes in! Deadpool is excessive in all things, and on the surface this doesn’t appear too great for purposes of storytelling. Whenever he’s maiming criminal henchmen with joyous abandon, Deadpool’s violence comes across as just a little too violent for any heroic role model. When cracking wise and cracking skulls, or waxing lyrical or obscene about each kill DO do that. Deadpool’s humour is, again, just a little too gratuitous for a proper hero. [Excerpt]
