Abstract: It is an undisputed fact that the name and fame of the Order of St John is well established around the world. Th e Order has been in existence for over 900 years with the nona-centenary commemorated in 1999.1 It enjoys widespread offi cial recognition, has diplomatic relations with many countries including the European Union, and has permanent observer status at the United Nations.
