Abstract: The year 2021 has been designated as the United Nations International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development. To commemorate this special year, the Institute for Tourism, Travel and Culture of the University of Malta decided to publish this edited book related to the theme. The choice of the title has not been coincidental: the editors believe that focusing on such an important theme is crucial when considered in support of the tourism and travel industry. Without creativity and without sustainability there can be no tourism – they go hand in hand and therefore the scope of this book is two-fold. The first is that it will bring together research from academia and industry, local and international; and the second is that it can also serve as a guide for tourism students, the tourism industry as well as for other stakeholders who might not be focused directly on tourism but do provide products and services that can attract both locals and tourists.
