dc.description.abstract | HOOPLA is an asynchronous concurrent programming language based on primitive objects that interact in a reactive fashion. Execution of HOOPLA code on a Von Neumann sequential machine proceeds upon the Asynchronous Computing Engine, which is able to bridge the gap between the two very different computing paradigms. The RlSC Asynchronous Computing Engine (RACE), the virtual machine developed for this project, performs this task, with emphasis on performance and efficiency. The RACE makes use of a number of optimisation techniques including Build-Time Computation and Eager Scheduling, resulting in considerable speedup over an existing Java-based implementation of the Asynchronous Computing Engine. | en_GB |
