I investigate two distinct phenomena occurring at the event horizon of a black hole. Recently attention has been paid to the effects of the Generalized Uncertainty Principle on the Hawking temperatures of classical black holes. Primarily, my interest lies in it's effects on the Kerr-Newman black hole. The second interest of this dissertation is in the extension of a collision mechanism, discovered by Banados, Silk and West, to the Sen black hole and it's non-rotating counterpart.en_GB
