In this dissertation the relationship between the rural trilogy of Federico García Lorca, his beliefs and personal life, shall be discussed. The main objective of this thesis is to illustrate that the author’s life experiences including his internal conflicts and his inner thoughts, were essential to the formation of his theatrical work, particularly 'Blood Wedding', 'Yerma', and 'The House of Bernarda Alba'. This study also emphasizes that in order to deeply investigate these rural dramas one must keep in mind the author’s real life experiences. In order to do so, this work shall analyse Lorca’s biography and life events. A literary analysis of the main themes of these three dramas will also be outlined. Finally, this thesis will focus on establishing a relationship between the main themes of these rural tragedies (for example: the confrontation between authority and the forces of liberty, frustrated love and desire, and infertility) and the poet’s life.en_GB
