Abstract: This project is aimed at the DIY industry where a customer would buy dismantled furniture in a box. At home, the customer would then try to assemble the furniture. In some cases assembling the product would be difficult, especially when the furniture is a complex one having many similar parts. In these cases, printed instructions are not enough and the customer would need some additional help to assemble the furniture. Augmented reality was identified as a technology that can be used to help the customer assemble his furniture by providing the customer with visual instructions showing him the correct assembly sequence. This can be done by making use of hardware which the user already has at home. The user is able to view the animation as many times necessary and he can turn the furniture in the animation around so he can view assembly taking place from different positions.
