Abstract: Since its accession into the European Union in 2004, Malta has focused much more effort on expanding and diversifying its research and innovation efforts. Much of this has centered with the only tertiary educational institution in Malta, its University. The purpose of this research effort is to examine how the science and technology outcomes of the University have changed in the last ten years. Our findings are that while some of the results are modest in absolute terms compared to larger institutions, the University has made significant strides in some important areas.
