The Learning through Landscape (LTL), an international organisation which promotes teaching and learning through outdoor spaces, was the basis for this dissertation. The research in this study provides a case study of a Maltese school's effort to promote LTL through environmental and educational purposes of the available spaces in school, taking into consideration the development of real life experiences and the related issues encountered through its process. The qualitative data is compiled through observations with an EkoSkola committee in a local state primary school, together with interviews addressed to the Heads, teachers and pupils in another two local settings. Results indicate that stakeholders place different values for the use of the school outdoor spaces, with strong evidence related to aesthetical and educational qualities. The author suggests that educators embed the use of these spaces within their pedagogies, in order to adapt to different teaching and learning styles. In view of this, the author recommends the promotion of Environmental Education and Sustainability through the outdoor spaces.en_GB
