Abstract: Climate Proofing is a new tool in assessing projects and programmes before they are implemented or mainstreamed into development adaptation policies. This dissertation will approach climate proofing through the OCED project cycle, by analysing the level of climate proofing of five projects by the European Commission in the Solomon Islands. The criteria of assessment will be three, project identification, appraisal and monitoring & implementation, by looking at projects which are funding through the European Development Fund (EDF) through projects which are designed and planned by DG Development in developing countries, precisely in Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Furthermore, the projects will be assessed in the infrastructure sector dealing with climate change adaptation policy, to see how much Official Development Assistance is invested, by assessing the links of adaptation and development.
