Abstract: The telephone service nowadays is an essential requirement for commercial, industrial and domestic entities. The evergrowing demand indicates the necessity for this important service in every home of our community, both for local and international access:. Everybody is more or less familiar with the facilities that the local telephone network provides. The switching operations required for the correct routing of a call are conducted in the Exchange. The types of National Telephone Exchanges that are presently in use are: 1. The Stronger electro-mechanical system 2. The SMN2 electro-mechanical system 3. The Siemens SMNcc semi-electronic system 4. The CIT-Alcatel ElO fully electronic system. These exchanges are utilized for the routing of local calls. However, when an overseas call is being made, the International Switching Exchange situated in B'Kara, routes the call to the desired destination. Up to the present day, only one International Exchange is in existence. [...]
