Abstract: This study attempts to investigate the myths behind the Foreign Policy of the Vatican with regards the Communist regime and the role of John Paul II in the collapse of the Soviet Union. The first chapter presents the reader with a general view on the conflict between John Paul II and the Communist regime. The Second chapter is about the first ten years of the Foreign Policy of the Vatican under John Paul II, the successes and flops of this Foreign Policy. In Chapter 3, the focus is on the conflict between the Communist regime and the Vatican in the "battlefield" of Poland and the consequences that this conflict was going to have on the rest of the Balkan States. In the Fourth Chapter, the work looks at the Vatican's Foreign Policy with regards the rest of the Balkan States during the Communist era and the final collapse of the Communist regime. In the final chapter, the author explores the Foreign Policy of the Vatican and the impact of the Pope's Foreign Policy on change in Europe.
