Abstract: Both passive and active smoking exert an effect on the inflammatory profile. This effect was dependent on smoking intensity. A lower inflammatory expression profile was associated with moderate but not with high alcohol consumption. Binge drinking increased the expression of inflammation-related transcripts. Alcohol consumption modified the effect of smoking on the inflammatory profile.
