Abstract: The relative ease of access to the oesophagus allows the collection of a rich set of time-series gathered at multiple spatial locations. Using ever-increasing computing power and maturing multidimensional modelling techniques we are able to use spatiotemporal oesophageal pressure readings to create dynamic models of both healthy and pathological peristalsis. This paper presents the results of applying maximum likelihood methods to create a stochastic model using spatiotemporal oesophageal manometry data.
