Abstract: The elastic registration of Kovalev and Petrou [1] was extended to a multiresolution scheme in [2] where gains in better solutions and lower computational cost were observed. In this work we analyze and statistically quantify these gains and support the hypothesis that the multiresolution approach does provide a better solution and a lower computational cost compared to its single resolution implementation.
