| Abstract: | In this project, a test suite was developed to enable the suitability of a local area network for real time video data transmissions to be assessed. The specific characteristics and requirements of video transmissions were analysed and compared to the services offered by the underlying communications protocols. A number of tests were then specified to evaluate the performance of the network when subjected to video traffic. The tests analysed the performance of the computers in handling the data and passing it over the underlying network, together with the physical network's suitability for real time data transmissions. |
