Abstract: This project/thesis deals with the design of a low noise, low distortion preamplifier, catering for moving coil and moving magnet cartridges and unequalised (i.e. line) inputs. The latter covers a wide range of music sources, including the CD. The use of a feedback variable 'volume' control allows any input level to be handled with minimal degradation in the noise performance of the preamplifier. A tone control-section and a headphone amplifier are added as supplementary circuits.
