Real-time lecture capturing

Abstract

In this evolving world where technology has brought great change to the people's life style, everybody is leading a hectic life while trying to handle multiple activities. This great use of multimedia has still areas which are being developed. One of these areas is e leaming. Electronic learning makes use of this great resource of possibilities and info1mation present to design and implement systems that helps to shift the learning out of the classrooms and the universities and to move it to anywhere with an Internet connection. This can be done creating a virtual space online where all the material of a particular course would be stored. This material would range from reading papers and notes to viewing recorded lessons and messages from the lecturer as well as computing online assignments and simulations with automatic grading systems. Development in the area has been going for a considerable amount of time but these systems still are not greatly used. This project takes care of examining the related work to this area. A lot of systems have been developed that take care of various sections of the e-learning. After examining these systems, a particular system was chosen to be implemented. The implemented system takes care to record the important aspects of the lecture. Another system is also used to record important aspects that are present in only some special lectures. Finally both systems are examined to be sure that they fit in the modem lifestyle of the students and also their weaknesses are pointed out.
