Abstract: Computers have helped various art forms improve both as regards quality of work and ease of performance. These include technologies for movie production (and post production), music and photo editing tools, and so on. We see no reason why computers cannot help less popular forms of art than painting and movie production, such as the ancient art of puppeteering. This dissertation focuses on this art form in particular, attempting to create a simulation environment complex enough to produce realistically moving marionettes but easy enough for users to use without requiring special training or previous knowledge.
