Abstract: The idea of this thesis will be to focus on different types of modulations in an inverter and examine the effect that this has on the three dimensional transients. It will also focus on the design of a pure sine wave inverter and interpreting its output in a form of a three dimensional form. This will be done by inputting three dimensional signals into the system and hence creating a three dimensional output. For simplicity, in certain applications, a Two-Phase system shall be used in order to create less complexity in the understanding of the operation of such signals. Three dimensional transients can be described as variations m an expected result which cause harmonics and other inaccuracies. In order to explain all this, the thesis will be divided into five sections as follows. Chapter One gives an introduction to define the types of inverters and their respective use. This section will provide a general idea, to which is described in greater detail in Chapter two. Chapter Two will be tackling the different types of switching used inverters and the type of control used for such switching. After discussion these important criteria about invertors, design will be explained in Chapter Three. The design is divided into three parts. The first two parts discuss two different software, which are used to create various simulations of the theory mentioned in Chapter Two. In the third part, the hardware set up will be discussed. Chapter Four discusses the results obtained by both software and hardware. The final Chapter will merge all the information discussed in the previous sections, where improvements and further works will be recommended.
