Abstract: Food preservation is the largest application of mechanical refrigeration. Refrigeration has saved quantities of meat, fish, eggs, milk and cream from spoilage, it has also played an important part in diet revision of the world. Refrigeration Cycle The refrigeration cycle is a simple means of heat extraction. In a compression system four distinct parts are required as follows: ( 1) compressor (pump) (2) condenser (receiver) (3) evaporator (cooling coils) (4) expansion valve (pressure reducing device) In the diagram the heat energy is required to change the liquid refrigerant into a gas which is obtained from the air space surrounding the evaporator. The low pressure is drown through the suction line compressor. As it passes through the compressor the heat laden gas is raised from low pressure in the suction line to higher pressure, there by raising its temperature, it will then pass through the discharged line into the condenser where the heat is removed from the vapor by means of natural air circulation [...].
