Abstract: Everyone comes across some notorious appointment scheduling task, particularly if group scheduling is involved. Shifting the responsibility of scheduling appointments to some form of computer program would be highly desirable. We will explore the elements of appointment scheduling, and propose a system that will schedule appointments on behalf of users through email. Thus the task of the system will be defined into two main categories, that of natural language processing and that of scheduling. We then define the architecture for the proposed system, based on research carried out and various ideas put forward. This architecture will serve as the foundation for implementing the proposed system. Finally we analyse the results of the work carried out and map out the future possibilities for this project.
