| Abstract: | This work documents the design and implementation of an approach towards the realisation of a digital audio tape recorder. The system employs video recording technology in order to store a 2 MHz digital signal on magnetic tape media. The main specifications of the system realized are that it is capable of both digitising and reproducing stereo audio signals with a 20KHz serial data has been phase modulates in order to be directly compatible for magnetic recording. Included in the system are also the full recording and playback electronics together with the associated control of the video head. |
