[Book review] Ergebnisse der Ausgrabungen auf der Hirbet el-Msas (Tel Masos) : 1972-1975

Abstract

These volumes are the final report of the excavations that took place at Hirbet el-Msas (located in the southern Negeb) between 1972 and 1975. The excavations, the first joint German-Israeli venture in the field of Biblical archaeology in Israel, was sponsored by the Seminar fur Altes Testament und Biblische Archiologie der Johannes-Gutenberg-Universitit Mainz and the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Tel Aviv. The rescue excavation undertaken later (1979) by A. Kempinskit confirmed the results of the work reported in these volumes; there is only one exception, namely that possibly House 480 in Area C was already built in Stratum IlIA (VoL I, p. ix).
