Abstract: A wide variety of industrial processes depend on accurate timing » coupled with careful control of such physical parameters as temperature, pressure or Light intensity. These include the very large number of photo-chemical processes used in all reprographic industries as well as in plastic moulding and electro- plating. The timing period required range from less than a second to several hours, depending on the nature of the process. Therefore the importance of the timing circuit in the wider industry cannot be underrated. the purpose of this thesis is to study several methods of providing these delays electronically. Importance was laid on the repeatability of the intervals when subjected to different environments. It is believed that, in future, timing circuit will be of the digital types since these provide better accuracy and wider applications than the usual types. It is therefore undertaken to design such a timer as a part of my study.
