Abstract: The importance of transmission of digital data is increasing with the increasing applications of computerized systems. Communication is usually established between a transmission point and a receiving point or points, over a given channel. The most common channel used is the telephone line, since this is found already laid, though there are cases where cables are laid solely for computer communication. For space communications, obviously radio links are used, free space being the channel. Thus the choice of the channel depends largely on the environment of the system. [...]
