Family tree organiser and tracer

Abstract

The Family Tree Organiser and Tracer is an application that will be used by people who want to trace and build a family tree for Maltese citizens. It is connected to a database with data about citizens in Malta. This document gives some background information about genealogy in Malta and abroad. It explains how the application was designed and implemented. Also there are a number of test cases with results obtained and a full case study for the application. The user of this application will be able to perform a search for a person in the main database. After the person being searched is found the user can choose to build his family tree. The program will trace the family tree from the main database and the user will confirm each result returned before adding it to the tree. All the data retrieved is then stored locally and the tree can be drawn on the screen. The user can also add or edit data to the tree. He can also store scanned photographs and link them to a particular person.
