| Abstract: | The hotel's owners - location - design: The Owners: The Jerma Palace Hotel is owned by the Libyan Arab Foreign Investment Company (LAFICO). The Corinthia Group of Companies was contracted by LAFICO to manage/operate the Hotel and it is its duty to employ the required staff including the management. Choice of Location: This four-star Hotel is situated in Marsascala, a picturesque fishing village and sea-side resort in the south of Malta. A regular bus service is available from the Hotel doorstep to the capital Valletta, just over 12 kms. away. The Hotel's site was chosen for the following reasons: 1. Proximity to the sea would help the hotel to be attractive to the tourist market. 2. In the southern side of Malta there is much less competition than there is in the north where most of the island's hotels and restaurants are to be found. 3. The Hotel would provide workers from the south of the Island with employment in the tourist industry. In fact, many of the employees are chosen from villages in this part of the island. 4. By building a new 700-bed Hotel requiring new roads, new water and electricity supply, etc. in the south, the Hotel's owners would be helping the local authorities in balancing out the infrastructure of the island. Choice of Design/Colour Scheme: The owners of the hotel were conscious of the fact that a hotel should be an attractive place to its clients and to its employees. The ingenious design of the hotel (See Plan of Hotel Appendix l) ensures that most of the 350 bedrooms have a seaview. All bedrooms are spacious and comfortably furnished with private bathroom, balcony, radio, telephone and air-conditioning. The colour scheme and the designs on the wall add to the hotel's attractive environment. |
