Abstract: This project consists in automating the winding and assembly operations of miniature (7mm diameter) intermediate frequency transformers (IFT) on an existing ten-head winding machine - Model L 551. The machine is loaded manually, with 10 plastic formers. It is required to build a mechanism that will be capable of guiding the 0.12mm diameter wire (on 10 formers at a time) from the slot of the former to the next after a pre-determined number of winding turns. At the end of the winding operation, another mechanism is required to wind the wire around the pins at the base of the former. This is called the Assembly. The difficulty of the project lies in having to deal with miniature parts. The project is sponsored by Eurocomponents Ltd of Gozo
