Abstract: This thesis forms part of the final year curriculum of a five-year Mechanical Engineering Degree course at the University of Malta. The intention is to present an account of the theoretical and practical aspects of dynamic balancing. The authors of this project designed and constructed two soft-bearing balancing machine rigs, namely: 1. Pivoted Cradle Balancing Machine - A. Camilleri (Section II) 2. Nodal Point Balancing Machine - J. Curmi (Section III) These rigs were subsequently calibrated and tested. This thesis also includes an account of recent developments in the dynamic balancing field.
