Abstract: This research focuses on the position of women in the managerial echelons of organizations in the Maltese society. In this text, two labour market sectors were analyzed to find out were Maltese women were located within the public and private sector. In order to carry this out, two organizations were focused upon, namely the Education Division for the public sector and McDonald's within the private one. The first chapters give a short glimpse of gender legislation both locally and abroad. Legislation promises equal opportunities for women and men, but reality shows otherwise as the evidence incorporated within this text demonstrates. This text incorporates within the last chapter a series of possible solutions that could be introduced to level out gender discrimination and above all help the society to benefit from such an important resource - women.
