Abstract: In this long essay we propose samples of texts taken from magazines. The exercises based on these texts are intended to develop in the students of Italian, comprehension and decodification strategies of reading. We based our work on the concept that both the mother language and the second language move towards a more profound understanding, exploring language aspects. Reading does not mean understanding every single element present in the text, but is a process by which the students arrive at a global comprehension. Learners comprehend through a series of cyclic exercises which enable them to understand more as they proceed from one exercise -to the other. The exercises are divided into three sections: In the first section there are exercises based on general questions. In the second section there are exercises where various aspects of the language are analysed; whilst in the third section there are exercises which verify and control comprehension.
