Citation: Vella, M. J. (2001). A real-time software system development CASE tool (Bachelor's dissertation).
Abstract: This dissertation describes the development of Real Time: An RT software system development CASE tool. In the first two chapters an investigation on the inherent characteristics and modelling needs of RT systems is made. Chapter 3 is an evaluation of 4 methodologies used for developing RT systems. Chapter 4 presents an optimized RT methodology which builds upon the methodologies introduced in chapter 3, in order to provide an improved and more adequate RT software development methodology. Chapter 5 demonstrates the use of this optimized methodology for modelling an Electronic Train Braking System - a Hard/Fast RT system. Chapter 6 is an evaluation of this optimized methodology. Chapters 7 and 8 introduce all the main features of the CASE tool, which is based on this optimized methodology. Chapter 9 concludes this dissertation by first mentioning some possible future work which could be carried out on the CASE tool, as well the evaluation of the tool itself, by comparing it with 3 commercial CASE tools of the same type.
