Abstract: The aim of the project was to design a system which could eventually replace the traditional test desk presently used at Telemalta. Besides providing facilities to test the line the equipment was designed to provide faster testing and also a means to be able to routine test the subscriber line, in order to enable preventive maintenance work to be carried out. The final setup was tested on artificial lines since it was not possible to test it on site. Thus before implementation is carried out, further tests are required on an interface between the system and the Exchange.
