dc.description.abstractHarmonics are often present in electronic power systems where signals of interest are mixed with unwanted harmonics that obscure and degrade the design signal. The aim of this project is to design, construct and test a power voltage source with variable predefined content of low order harmonics. Such a source would be extremely useful in simulating practical line voltages during the testing of an electronic system so as to predict how a system would perform when fed different levels of harmonics. The analysis of the noise immunity of a system is an important feature in determining a system's reliability, especially for systems that need to work in adverse conditions or where high reliability is of utmost importance. Testing of the effectiveness of active and passive filters can also be carried out.en_GB
