Abstract: The first step is to define multiculturalism. There are several accepted versions, which in the long run are interrelated. The library serving a multicultural community has to study the way the multiculturalism was created to establish the needs of the client. Following this it does its best to provide the best service within its limitations. It is the staff that makes the library efficient so the latter has to provide certain ethics of behaviour. However, the latter needs special material to make the library work. The selection and acquisition has to be considered within the context of specific needs. Marketing a multicultural library can drive you to consider also the position of the material. One cannot isolate such library, as the host society benefits from a multicultural library both indirectly and directly. Going through these steps one comes to the conclusion that there is an establish need for multicultural libraries as long as they are managed through a holistic approach of not only serving migrants but also all society in general.
