Abstract: This paper provides an assessment of how Maltese healthcare performance compares against that of other selected EU countries. The study analyses a chosen set of key performance indicators (KPIs) relating to the health sector, derived from seven areas of assessment: health status, determinants of health, efficiency, access, responsiveness, quality and resources. The findings indicate that the Maltese healthcare system performs 4th best overall and 2nd best in terms of value-for-money.
