Abstract: This thesis gives a short insight to the environment in today's multi-track recording studios followed by the complete design of a 12 8 2 multi-track mixing console for use with 8-track recorders in such an environment. The console features electronic inter-channel patching between input and output channels only and single inbuilt electronic echo routing as well as external effects-loop routing both mixable to the 2-track master output. Short insights to noise and interference, which are topics of primary importance in audio design, are included in the appendices.
