Abstract: | My aim is to give all the necessary information about the Schools Library Service, the service it offers, what teacher librarians think about it and what would they expect to have more from the service. I started by giving the historical development of the Schools Library Service in Malta with chronological events. A comparative study of the Malta Schools Library Services with two in the UK is done in order to give an idea of the Maltese situation compared to that of another country. I also explained fully the functions of the Schools Library Service dividing them into the advisory and practical functions of the service. Diagrams and photos are included to illustrate more these functions. I also conducted a survey among the librarians in Secondary and Upper Secondary state schools to seek their opinion on the service given by the Malta Schools Library Service and what would they expect more in the future. The last chapter contains suggestions and recommendations for the future of the Malta Schools Library Service. |
