Abstract

This project is divided into two sections, namely Boiler Control and Pneumatic devices. The first section deals with the boiler variables (steam temperature, steam pressure, steam flow, feedwater flow etc. ), the relationship between them and the methods adopted to control some of these variables to achieve the desired results. This analysis is carried out qualitatively but it is of course very interesting to be able to do it quantitively but it is of course very interesting to be able to do it quantitatively. mathematically. This is the subject matter of the Dynamic Analysis of Boilers. Although no such analysis is done here, two methods by which it could be done are briefly described and discussed. They are taken from the only two papers, of those that were written on the subject, that were available. Finally in this section the control diagram of the Malta "B" Power Station Boiler is described. Some comments are also made on typical continuous recordings of some of the boiler variables.

In the second section, three pneumatic devices are analysed, named a computer relay, pneumatic positioner and auto/ manual statues. The analysis follows more or less the same pattern throughout.
