Abstract: Sometimes it is necessary to determine the characteristics of devices under different operational temperatures, other than room temperature. For example, in the IC manufacturing industry, it is custom to supply the temperature characteristic curve of the device manufactured. Also, in the aeroplane construction industry, it is useful to determine the behaviour of the control circuitry, at different operational temperatures, bearing in mind that an aeroplane has to operate in harsh temperature changing environments, where simply by gaining altitude the ambient temperature drops. The aim of the project was to construct a module capable of changing the operational temperature of a device, both below and above room temperature, preferably within the range of -50°C to 125°C, and monitor it. Meanwhile the characteristics of the device under test could be measured. The module must also be capable of expansion, such that the characteristics of the device can be measured automatically.
